Freedom of speech is not compatible with the regulation of speech. Anyone should be able to express their thoughts, including a conspiracy theoretician or conspiracy practitioner 🙂 If someone worries about his brain boiling they should abstain from using social media or configure their feed as they see fit.
Having said that, I personally don't like the fact that big players control the algorithms (what is shown to whom when) and so control the narrative. But solution should not be the regulation by a bigger and more brutal player - the government. The solution should be market based - people voluntary choosing smaller social networks, preferably distributed ones not locking in user's data and social connections, that have stimuli to treat users well (not boil their brains if they don't want to).
